Crossing Over Into a New Season

“Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?” – Isaiah 43:19 (KJV)

A new year feels like standing at a doorway.  One year is behind us, and another is in front of us.  God often works at moments like this, when His people are about to cross from one season into another.

This is more than a date change. It is a spiritual moment.

Let Go of Yesterday!

God told Israel not to live in the past.  That doesn’t mean the past had no value; it means it no longer controls us.

Some people walk into a new year carrying old regrets, old wounds, or even successes.  But yesterday’s strength will not be enough for today’s journey.

“Forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before.” – Philippians 3:13 (KJV)

You can’t move forward if your heart is still stuck behind you.

God’s new work often starts small.  It may begin as a desire to pray more, a tug toward change, or a quiet conviction in your heart.

“Now shall it spring forth; shall ye not know it?”

God is asking us to pay attention.

Make room for What God Wants To Do

God promised rivers in the desert. That means He brings help where help seems impossible.

But for something new to flow in, something old may need to flow out.  Old habits, old bitterness, old fears can block what God wants to pour into us.

“Create in me a clean heart, O God” – Psalm 51:10 (KJV)

A new year is a good time to ask God to refresh your heart.

Take the first step.

When Israel crossed the Jordan River, the water didn’t part until they stepped in.  Faith often works that way.

You may not see the whole path, but God is asking for Obedience, one step at a time.

“Be strong and of a good courage.” – Joshua 1:9 (KJV)

Small steps of faith lead to big changes.

God is Already in Your Future.

We don’t know what this year will hold, but we know who holds it.

“I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD..to give you an expected end.” – Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV)

The same God who brought you through the last year is already waiting for you in the next one.

A new year is a chance to start fresh, not because we are strong, but because God is faithful.

He is inviting us to let go, listen, and step forward.

“Now therefore arise, go over this Jordan.” – Joshua 1:2 (KJV)

This year doesn’t have to be the same as the last.  God is ready to do something new, if we are willing to cross over.
